Sooooo an additional surprise has come my way. I have been asked to speak at Opening Ceremonies. I was nominated by my Crew Coordinator, and asked if I would consider addressing the walkers. My response, after I re-hinged my jaw to my face was yes.
So the powers that be are going to let me on stage, give me a podium and a microphone and let me talk to the whole walk before they head out onto the route. I will represent the Crew, a group that I adore working with every single year. It is an honor and a privelege, and I'm really amazed that anyone would ask me. Because I don't think I'm special. I am just doing what I can in my very small way to try and make a difference and honor the memory of someone I lost. I have prepared my draft speech and am waiting for its approval, and I have a dress rehearsal to attend in a week. I am very excited.
This will be a great year no matter what happens, and I'm excited to not only lead the walkers out to the route with the other participants being honored for their fundraising commitments over the years, but to tell everyone my story and how proud I am to be part of this event.
Again, none of it would be possible without you. I have to send a specific thanks to you, for reading, for sharing with others, for donating and for supporting me each year. This is meant for you as well as me. My heart is full of appreciation for you.
