As you may or may not know, I was diagnosed with breast cancer last year and underwent a bilateral mastectomy on July 9, 2015.
This year, on July 9th, 2016, I’m walking in the AVON 39 The Walk to End Breast Cancer in Boston. The AVON 39 is a 2 day, 39.3 mile walk held in 7 cities to raise funds for research, treatment, awareness and education, while providing assistance for families of people diagnosed with breast cancer.
Even though I am cancer free now, every day it is still a constant struggle for me. A simple check-up can turn scary in a heartbeat, and a common headache can make me worry that something terrible has occurred. My hope is that one day no one else will have to fear this awful disease. I want Sydney and Sam to see the day when they no longer have to worry about breast cancer because it is a thing of the past. If there is one thing I’ve learned through overcoming this disease it is to live life in the present and value each and every day so what better way to celebrate one year since my surgery than to crush this AVON 39 walk?!
