I am participating in the 2017 AVON 39 The Walk to End Breast Cancer. I did the walk this past year and it was an amazing experience.  I personally raised over $12,000 thanks to many of you and my team of 39 walkers raised over $100,000!!! This year, our team is bigger and stronger than ever!  We plan to crush our previous results while working to crush cancer at the same time. As of June 1, we have raised over $152,000!!! We are making a difference one step at a time.

At the end of the walk last year, I felt empowered. I told my friend, a suvivor, that I was dedicating my next walk to her.  Leslie had always been a fierce competitor in addition to being kind, generous, intelligent, and an amazing wife, mother, daughter, friend, etc.  Little did I know at that time. Leslie who was a very private person, was facing her second battle with breast cancer. Her privacy, I believe was a sign of her inner strength.  She could beat this a second time!  Sadly, that's not how this story ended. Despite a life filled with a loving family, lots of great friends, exercise, passion for life, days at the beach and good clean living were just not enough.  We lost our dear friend in April.  She leaves behind a dedicated and loving husband and three children.  There are so many families who have shared this loss of someone so young. so vibrant.  The loss is great, so unexpected and incomprehensible. 

Anything worth fighting for takes hard work, tenacity and commitment. I will walk 39 miles in two days.  I won't be easy but it will certainly be less challenging than anyone who has battled cancer.
