I am participating in AVON 39 The Walk to End Breast Cancer. It won’t be easy, but that’s why it's worth it. From now until AVON 39 weekend, I’ll train to strengthen my body to walk over 39 miles in two days. I’ll also be raising funds to crush breast cancer. This is where you come in.
I am required to raise at least $1,800 to EARN MY 39, but I plan to raise much, much more! I hope that I can count on your support!

I’m walking with thousands of other 39ers. We’re banding together in solidarity and have one goal: to take breast cancer down. So many sisters and mothers and friends have been lost. Hello everyone!
My name is Katarina Pollastretti. I have recently joined L and R's Bizzy B's in their brave endeavor to end breast cancer by participating in the AVON 39 Walk to End Breast Cancer. This will not be an easy task, but a very rewarding one, to walk these 39 miles.
I was a sophomore in high school when my mom, Liz Pollastretti, was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was easily the most frightening news I've ever received. I did not understand how someone who took care of their body, never putting any harmful chemicals in it, always ate healthily and exercised, could develop cancer. Not to mention, she did not deserve it in the least bit. It seemed very unfair to me really. In the same year, one of my mother's best friends, Renee MacMillan, was diagnosed as well.
Luckily for my family and the MacMillan family, the malignancy was caught early enough to be removed without any extremely debilitating tactics. My mother had breast reconstruction through mastectomy, and Renee had a lumpectomy with radiation treatments. I am ecstatic to say that they have both been in remission for about 2 years now. The doctors, nurses and staff at the Dana Farber Cancer institute at South Shore Hospital are to thank for their recovery.
My mother wanted to give back to her community, hoping that the millions and millions of women diagnosed with breast cancer every year would be able to experience the same relief, speedy recovery, and gift of a long, healthy life as her. Thus, L and R's Bizzy B's was born. My mother along with her team (Nicole Healy, Renee MacMillan, Kate Murphy, and Nori Perry) embarked on the 39 mile journey last summer in July. Now this year, I will be joining them on their mission to end breast cancer. I am more than honored to be apart of a team of such generous, resilient, amazing women.
I need to raise $1,800 in order to participate in this life-changing event. With your help, I hope to raise even more than this to save the lives of women worldwide.
