My sister (in-law) Holly Sullivan, has inspired me to participate in AVON 39 Walk to End Breast Cancer. I will walk 39+ miles in two days. Holly and I actually did this walk together with my mom and sister in 2003. It was an incredibly inspiring event. This time though, its personal.
In August, Holly learned that the "pulled muscle" she'd been trying to ignore for months/blame on soul cycle, was actually stage 2 breast cancer. A few weeks later she had a double mastectomy and reconstruction. She was speechless (probably for the first time ever).
I have taken her trademark intrepidness for granted since I first met her at age 3. In the past 6 months though, as I stand by uselessly on the sidelines, watching her fight with admirable grit and grace, its clear cancer picked a fight with the wrong girl. What I didn’t realize before though, and should have, is that Holly isn’t just going to beat cancer herself. She’s going to punish it. She will not give up once she is healthy. She is going to persevere in fighting it until there’s a cure. You should join us. Please support our team by making a donation.
