The above photo of me with two of my nieces was taken just after the closing ceremony of my first breast cancer walk in 2000. Thinking back to my first breast cancer walk in 2000, lots of things have changed. For example, this website and my personal fundraising page, they did not exist 17 years ago. In fact, I did all my fundraising by postal mail and pesonal checks. The color pink was not the prominant color of the event; it was blue. Everyone slept at camp in a blue tents. No hotels. No one had smart phones for photos or videos. I used a disposable camera so I don't have many photos. And most of us wore the man-sized event tshirts made of 100% cotton. Thank goodness for tech fabrics.
But what hasn't changed is the challenge of the event and raising money to reach the goal of putting an end to breast cancer. Please help me raise $10,000 for the Chicago Avon 39 and let's crush breast cancer.
You can make a donation right here on my webpage by clicking the "Donate Now" button to the right. If you prefer to write a check, click the “Donate By Mail” button and follow the instructions on the form.
Your donations will be managed and disbursed by the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade. The dollars you pledge will put food on the table of a breast cancer patient and her family. They will enable access to mammograms and medicine, fuel research, and save lives. Need any more reason to click that Donate Now button?
Thanks. I hope I can count on your support.
Love,
Maureen
