Welcome, and thank you for visiting our AVON 39 team page!
Our team, Friends In Bloom, is walking for our incredible friend Christine. We are all part of the St. Mary of the Woods parish and school community.
Christine was first diagnosed with breast cancer several years ago, had treatments and was doing very well. Last June, a cough she had, that was initially treated as walking pneumonia, turned out to be the return of her breast cancer. It was a huge shock to her and to all of us. But the worst part was that it had already spread, so it was Stage IV. She has been fighting with everything she has ever since. She had hoped to participate in the walk this year, but since she is unable to, we walk for her on team 'Friends In Bloom', to support her, and to let her know how much she is loved and cared for!
We've each made a big commitment. Each team member is required to raise at least $1,800 in donations. But because we're in this together for Christine, we know that, with your help, we can do it.
Please support our team. You can make a donation to any team member by clicking on their name, and you’ll be taken to their personal page. You may also donate to the team by clicking on 'Donate Now', which shows above the team members names. These donations will be split evenly amongst each team member, 30 days prior to the walk. If you'd prefer to write a check, just contact one of us and we'll send you the form and information.

We are beyond heartbroken to share that since this page was first updated, Christine has since passed away. We have lost such a beautiful soul and wonderful friend. May this be even more of a reason to continue to walk to try to make a difference in this fight. Please keep her husband, two young sons, family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.
About Avon Breast Cancer Crusade
The Avon Breast Cancer Crusade qualifies under Section 501(c)(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code. Launched in 1992, the Crusade is affiliated with the Avon Foundation for Women. The Crusade’s philanthropic commitment is to enable access to medical advances and support services for breast cancer patients, particularly those from vulnerable populations, and to invest in research on the prevention, diagnostics, and treatment of breast cancer. Funding is awarded to beneficiaries ranging from leading cancer centers to community-based breast health programs for awareness and education; screening and diagnosis; access to treatment; support services; and scientific research.
