Welcome, and thank you for visiting our AVON 39 team page!
We are 16 young people, aged 10-16, who are committed to helping find a cure for breast cancer. Although we are too young to walk, we aren't too young to have been affected by breast cancer. Our goal is to demonstrate the power of youthful passion and to enrich the experiences of all Avon 39 participants.
The Youth Crew is the youngest Crew team and the only Crew team required to fundraise. Each team member is required to raise at least $500 in donations. Since the Santa Barbara Youth Crew's inception in 2008, we have raised over $130,000 in the fight against breast cancer! Our 2016 team raised over $20,000. This year we are hoping to raise $30,000. We know this is aggressive but because we're in this together, we know that with your help, we can do it!!
The Youth Crew is not a summer camp. We are a small group of committed and motivated young people that will participate in the entire event, tent at night at the Base Camp near walkers and other crew members, and complete a range of important tasks on the route, at the base camp and at ceremonies. We will be helping at rest stopes, helping with gear and doing a LOT of cheering, working from Friday, September 8th to Sunday, September 10th to assure everybody has an amazing event.

About Avon Breast Cancer Crusade
The Avon Breast Cancer Crusade qualifies under Section 501(c)(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code. Launched in 1992, the Crusade is affiliated with the Avon Foundation for Women. The Crusade’s philanthropic commitment is to enable access to medical advances and support services for breast cancer patients, particularly those from vulnerable populations, and to invest in research on the prevention, diagnostics, and treatment of breast cancer. Funding is awarded to beneficiaries ranging from leading cancer centers to community-based breast health programs for awareness and education; screening and diagnosis; access to treatment; support services; and scientific research.
