Thank you for visiting my fundraising page and for your support. 2017 will mark my 22nd (Avon39: The Walk to End Breast Cancer in Chicago in June), 23rd (Avon39: The Walk to End Breast Cancer in Santa Barbara in Sept) & 24th (Komen 3-Day for the Cure in San Diego in Nov) long distance fundraising walks. People ask me why I continue to walk so I thought about it (for about 15 seconds!) and came up with the following reasons: Cancer is still out there and a cure MUST be found; My great nieces, Sophia, Abigail, and Madison, and great nephew, Max, and for ALL of this next generation … that someday they live in a world where they have “google” cancer to understand what it WAS; For those LOST before their time and for those who continue to FIGHT; Like most philanthropic projects, I get so much more OUT of the experience than what I put INTO it; I LOVE fundraising and being of service by listening to those who want to share their experiences.
I must raise $5,900 to participate in these events which will bring total fundraising efforts to over $60,000 since my first walk in 2004. Quite an accomplishment … but only possible because of YOUR support … thank you.
I walk for those who no longer can and because I am blessed to be able to walk - one step at a time!
Gratefully,
Ruth
