Hi Friend! The Avon39 Walk To End Breast Cancer is one of the central fundraisers for breast cancer treatments for women who have received that unnerving and life-changing diagnosis. The funds go to a worthy cause!!!!
I'm participating in this year's AVON 39 The Walk to End Breast Cancer in Santa Barbara. It won’t be easy, but that’s why it's worth it. From now until AVON 39 weekend, 9/9 and 10, I’ll train to strengthen my body to walk over 39 miles in two days. I’ll also be raising funds to crush breast cancer. This is where you come in.
You can make a donation right here on my webpage by clicking the "Donate Now" button to the right. If you prefer to write a check, click the “Donate By Mail” button and follow the instructions on the form. Here's a list of those organizations who received the benefit of the funds raised last year:
AVON 39 LOCAL AND NATIONAL PROGRAMS
By stepping up to the AVON 39 challenge, you're helping breast cancer patients in your community and across the nation. Net funds raised will directly benefit the Santa Barbara area and help make sure that care programs nationwide, as well as national research programs, have the resources to make the most progress possible to help obliterate breast cancer.

Sunday, April 30 -- walking
Yesterday, I spent an hour at the gym on strength exercises for my legs and today I was back out pounding the pavement for a 3 mile walk. What a great way to get around! I love seeing the neighbors out in their yards or riding bikes with their kids and I treated myself to Starbucks about 2/3's of the way through the walk. :)
I have 4 months and a few days before my walk and want to get my mileage up to 10 or so miles at one time by then.
Do-able!
Keep me in your thoughts and prayers. (I'm still in need of donations. Please help me reach my $1800 goal. It's $700 away!)

On the road again...
I've been walking every chance I've had this past week to build up to the 39 miles I'll walk on September 8 and 9.
While my fitness tracker let me down today :( , I can tell you I've logged approximately 25 miles this past week. Many days I've logged five miles over all!
Check out my photo...pretty in pink! That's my new hot pink Avon 39 shirt.
I'm still looking for more donations toward my required $1800 minimum. If you can help me by making a donation or asking a friend to contribute, I'm gathering names for ribbons I'll wear on my shirt during the walk. Any donation qualifies for a ribbon. I'll be walking for your friend, loved one, family member!
I'm committed! Let's work together to end breast cancer!

Thinking of my friends with breast cancer
It's been a terrific week to reflect on my friends with breast cancer who are treating or are recovering from surgery and treatment. I'm so looking forward to honoring you when I walk in September!
I continue to be overwhelmed by the people who have provided donations to this cause. It's so fabulous to know that this cause is one that my friends feel good about donating to. I know I feel strongly about the great work of Avon and the walks across the country to end breast cancer.
If you feel so inclined, I'd appreciate you sharing my webpage to friends who might also feel strongly about finding a cure and helping women with breast cancer. Donations can come from anywhere and at any amount. It's all beneficial!
As we get ready to begin another weekend, I plan to have another training walk this weekend. Ready to lace up my tennies for a long walk on Friday evening and/or Saturday morning.

What this means to me...
As soon as I finish this note, I'm out the door for today's training walk. I'm ready to take on this challenge.
I'm walking in memory of my mom and the women I know who have or who have had breast cancer.
A little about my mom. She passed away at age 60 of metastatic breast cancer. Until breast cancer, she was a vibrant woman, a medical doctor, and my loving mother. In those days, there was little doctors could do to stop the cancer from spreading.
I'm grateful for the work that has been done over these many years so that my friends are receiving treatment that restores their health and kills the cancer cells so they can live a long life!
That's all for now...time to walk!
