I am participating in my 15th Avon Walk this year---the AVON 39 The Walk to End Breast Cancer.

15 Avon Walks---can you believe it? 

I won't be walking, but I will be volunteering my nursing skills as I lead a Medical Tent along the route that the 5000 participants will be walking.  Along with some other wonderful RN's, we will be taking care of the walkers to help them complete their journey.  We'll be assessing injuries; looking for signs of dehydration, hypothermia and hyperthermia; breaking blisters on sore feet; wrapping ankles and knees; and so much more.  As a Crew volunteer, I am not required to raise any funds.  But as a VERY blessed and fortunate breast cancer survivor, how can I not?  This is where you come in.  Help me do something wonderful--let's crush breast cancer! 

When I volunteered for my first Avon Walk in 2003, 3 surgeries were behind me and I was in the middle of my chemo treatments.  I made a commitment at that time to do everything that I could to help find a way to end this.  I haven't missed an Avon Walk since 2003 and I don't intend to miss any in the future.

I’ll be spending the weekend with thousands of 39ers. We’re banding together in solidarity and have one goal: to take breast cancer down. So many sisters and mothers and friends have been lost. We see a world without breast cancer for our daughters and nieces and granddaughters. AVON 39 is a force of change that can’t be stopped. By supporting me with a donation, you’re part of it.
