I am excited to be participating in my 12th Avon 39 The Walk to End Breast Cancer. This year, I am again the Basecamp 39 Division Leader. In this position, I am responsible for the overall operation of the Base Camp 39. The Base Camp 39 is where the walkers finish their first day of walking, rest, have dinner, shower, get medical attention, and enjoy each others company. In addition, the crew and staff also rest here for the night.
To add to my excitement again for the 4th year, my 13-year-old son Ethan has been accepted to be on the Avon 39 The Walk to End Breast Cancer Youth Crew! I am very proud to be crewing with Ethan and for both of us to have this opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others. Ethan is doing his own fundraising and is doing very well! Last year, Ethan was able to raise over $4,700 by himself.
Although I am not required to raise any money, I have pledged to raise money for the this great cause as part of my participation in the walk. Money raised will help support medical research into the possible causes of and cure for breast cancer. It will also fund education and early detection programs, and clinical care and support services for women with breast cancer in communities across the country. There is a special focus on helping medically underserved women, the poor, minorities, the elderly, or those with inadequate health insurance. Much of the money granted goes back to the communities where it was raised, supporting everything from local grassroots programs to national organizations.
It is faster and easier than ever to support this great cause - you can make a donation online by simply clicking the link at the bottom of this message. Whatever you can give will help! Did you know that with your help in the previous 11 years, I have been able to raise over $48,000!
Ethan and I have tried hard to keep our fundraising contact lists separate but if you happen to have received emails from both of us – PLEASE do not donate to both of us. Any duplicate contacts are due to technical difficulties and we would never ask you to donate to both of us.
