As you may know, for the last nine years I have participated in the Avon 39 - The Walk to End Breast Cancer as a member of the Crew (a team of 500 people that supports the thousands of walkers who walk 39 miles in two days). For the last eight years, I have been the Division Leader for the NY Youth Crew, a group of 20 amazing and enthusiastic kids, ranging in age from 10-16, who raise money and work tirelessly over three days for this important cause. It is truly one of the best weekends of my year and an experience I treasure!
I am passionate about this cause, first and foremost, because my mother is a breast cancer survivor. She was only 32 when she was diagnosed - I was just 9 months old and she also had three other children under 12. She was a pioneer for the ACS Reach to Recovery program and for many years offered understanding, support, and hope to help people cope with their breast cancer experience. Her strength and courage are an inspiration to me.
We need your support. Thanks to many of your generous donations over the years, my NY Youth Crew teams have raised over $480,000 in the fight against breast cancer – pretty amazing for such young people! For the last four years, I have been the top fundraiser within the New York Crew and this year I have again goaled myself to raise $10,000 for this important cause.
Each of us has our own reasons for caring about the fight against cancer. Whatever your reason, I hope you will choose to make a difference by making a donation to support our efforts.
Your contribution will be managed and disbursed by the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade to help provide access to care for those that most need it, fund educational programs, and accelerate research into new treatments and potential cures.
You can make a donation to my fundraising campaign right here on the website by clicking on the pink "Donate Now" button. If you prefer to write a check, just contact me and I will send you the information and form.
Whatever you can give will help!
Thank you in advance for your support; together we can save lives.
