I am very excited to report that I have been accepted into the 2017 AVON 39 The Walk to End Breast Cancer Youth Crew. The AVON 39 is a two day, 39.3-mile walk to raise money for breast cancer research, awareness, and education (www.AVON39.org). Thousands of Walkers will undertake the challenge supported by an all-volunteer Crew. They will all sleep in tents at Basecamp 39 during the event.
The mission of the Youth Crew is to allow young people to meaningfully participate in the AVON 39 and demonstrate the power of youthful passion and conviction to:
-
Personally empowers each young person
-
Provide an outlet for young people to contribute on a personal level in response to a
disease that has directly affected them
-
Enrich the experience for all AVON 39 participants
-
Add real value for the Staff and Crew
-
Raise awareness about the full range of people effected by breast cancer
Last year the Youth Crew played a huge role in the Event, getting everyone involved excited and putting a smile on their faces. I think the team had a big impact. As one cancer survivor said, “the reason I walk is so that young people like you will never have to face the challenges that I have faced.”
I'm volunteering to support all those affected by breast cancer, especially those in my family.
As a requirement of my participation, I need to raise quite a bit of money. My goal this year is to raise $1000
All contributions are completely tax deductible. You can click the donate button to donate now. If you would like to send a check make it out to “AVON 39 The Walk to End Breast Cancer” to me. I will make sure that all the contributions get to the right place. Or, you can go to www.AVON39.org, click on “donate” and type in my name.
Thank you so much for helping me reach my goal.
Love,
Brooke
