We all know that there's strength in numbers, so it’s with great strength that we’ll work toward putting an end to the suffering caused by breast cancer.
Because Walk age requirements are 16 (for Walkers) and 18 (for other Crew members), we wanted to find a way to give a select group of young people an opportunity to meaningfully participate in the AVON 39 and to demonstrate the power of youthful passion and conviction. While Youth Crew members are too young to walk, they aren’t too young to have been affected by Breast Cancer. Some have been fortunate to know survivors and others, unfortunately, have experienced loss.
AVON 39 New York Youth Crew, a powerful posse of young people between the ages of 10 and 16, has been fighting to end breast cancer since 2007. This amazing group has raised over $480,000 since then, and they're not about to stop now. These passionate youths will keep raising money and working harder than they ever imagined for each and every 39er until they crush breast cancer once and for all.
Youth Crew members take part in every aspect of the Crew experience, beginning with a commitment to three full days of participation during the AVON 39 Event Weekend (October 14-16). They camp out as a group for two nights and complete a range of important tasks along the Route as well as at Opening and Closing Ceremonies. Members of this small but mighty team will gain invaluable volunteer experience — not to mention some awesome new friends — working on the AVON 39 Youth Crew.
The AVON 39 in New York is one of seven events in a series of weekend fundraising walks taking place from April to October to help raise awareness and funds for access to care and finding a cure for breast cancer. Funds raised by our dedicated AVON 39ers are distributed by the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade to local, regional and national breast cancer organizations to support breast cancer education, screening and diagnosis, access to treatment and support services, and life-saving research.

About Avon Breast Cancer Crusade
The Avon Breast Cancer Crusade qualifies under Section 501(c)(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code. Launched in 1992, the Crusade is affiliated with the Avon Foundation for Women. The Crusade’s philanthropic commitment is to enable access to medical advances and support services for breast cancer patients, particularly those from vulnerable populations, and to invest in research on the prevention, diagnostics, and treatment of breast cancer. Funding is awarded to beneficiaries ranging from leading cancer centers to community-based breast health programs for awareness and education; screening and diagnosis; access to treatment; support services; and scientific research.
