We have decided to put all our feet together (thus the Tutti Footti name of our team) to walk toward putting an end to the suffering caused by breast cancer.

This July 23 and 24, we specifically want to honor 2 friends who were recently diagnosed with breast cancer and have been fighting it successfully:  Maureen and Janice.

Some of you may know them. But if you don’t, we can tell you that they are amazing women with admirable spirits in fighting their cancer. They were also lucky to have had access to effective medical treatments and probably benefited from the latest research on breast cancer.

As women, we are all concerned: on the average, a woman has about a 1 in 8 chance of being diagnosed with breast cancer at some time during her life.

As women living in Northern California, we all know about higher breast cancer rates in Marin County. But this is not the only place in the Bay Area:  a new study has found that communities in San Mateo and northern Santa Clara counties also have breast cancer rates higher than the state average.

 Breast cancer research must continue because we must help every woman survive breast cancer

 Each of us in the team made a big commitment. It’s a little scary but it’s worth it. We will train to prepare for a walk of up to a marathon and a half, in a day and a half. We also have to raise at least $1,800 in donations per team member. 

 We want to raise money as a team because we are all in this together, and we know that, with your help, we can do it.
