2017: AVON 39 The Walk to End Breast Cancer: San Francisco

The 3G's; The Genome Girls and Guys

The 3G's Begin The Walk!

The 3G's: The Genome Girls and Guys

Welcome, and thank you for visiting our Avon Walk for Breast Cancer team's page! The 3G’s; The Genome Girls and Guys are a group of co-workers and friends from SFGH and UCSF, and we are getting ready to participate in our 8th Avon39 SF walk. We are looking forward to another amazingly successful and fun year.

The Avon Foundation is a huge supporter of breast cancer services for underserved women.  In the Bay Area some of the programs supported include; San Francisco General Hospital Foundation, Alameda County Medical Center, California Breast Cancer Research Program, Charlotte Maxwell Complementary Clinic, Project Open Hand and Zero Breast Cancer.

In 2002 Avon provided the funds to build a state of the art digital mammography center at SFGH.  In addition, the Foundation provided funding for the UCSF Cancer Risk Program to open a satellite clinic at SFGH.  We were the first program in the country to offer free genetic counseling and genetic testing for women at increased risk for cancer based on hereditary factors.

Each member of the team has made a big commitment. Not only will she spend the next few months training to prepare for a walk a marathon and a half, but each team member is required to raise at least $1,800 in donations. But because we're in this together, we know that, with your help, we can do it.

Please support us by either joining our team or making a donation.  To make a donation, please select any team member's name, and you will be taken to their personal page... If you'd prefer to write a check, just contact one of us and we'll send you the form and information. Thank you,

Robin Lee, the proud captain of The 3G’s; The Genome Girls and Guys
