Welcome to my Avon39 Walk to End Breast Cancer page.
As you may know, I got involved in the Avon Walk to honor the life and death of my dear friend and college roommate, Leslie Klein, who put up an amazing fight against breast cancer for four years before succumbing to the disease in 2006. I – and tons of other people who knew and loved her – continue to miss her pretty much every day.
Last year at this time, my friend MM, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, was finishing up her chemotherapy. This year, my friend Ellen, who was diagnosed last August, is recovering from surgery and radiation. So you see, inspiration to participate in this event is unfortunately, never hard to find and why I still believe that breast cancer sucks and affects far too many people. It is also why I will spend the weekend of May 6th and 7th participating in my 14th Avon Walk. Like last year, I will be part of the amazing volunteer crew, making sure that all of the participants are safe and well cared for.
I hope that I can count on your support. The money I raise will be managed and disbursed by the Avon Foundation to help provide access to care for those who most need it, fund educational programs, and accelerate research into new treatments and potential cures.
You can make a donation right here on the website by clicking the pink "DONATE TO DEVRA" button on this page. If you prefer to write a check, please send it directly to me (please see my email for my address), or, contact me and I can make arrangements to pick it up. That way I can make sure you receive a receipt from the Avon Foundation.
Thank you in advance for your donation.
With tons of hopeful, we are making a difference love,
Devra
