Dear Friends and Supporters:
Thank you for taking the time to help.
As you likely know, in the last few years, I have decided to stop talking and take action, and I am not done. 2017 will be the second time I participate in the Avon Walk, and for those of you who do not know, yes, I did walk all 39.3 miles in 2016. Since then, I participated in a pilgrimage from Assisi to Rome walking at least 150 km, about 93 miles, and now I am healing from surgery on my left foot and getting ready to walk again.
This won’t be easy, but that’s why it's worth it. From now until AVON 39 weekend, I’ll continue to train to strengthen my body to walk over 39 miles in two days. I’ll also be raising funds to crush breast cancer. This is where you come in.
I would like you, too, to join in the walk, but if you don't think that is something you want to do, I MUST raise at least $1,800 to EARN MY 39. While I would like to raise much more, I NEED your support!
You can make a donation right here on my webpage by clicking the "Donate Now" button to the right. If you prefer to write a check, click the “Donate By Mail” button and follow the instructions on the form.
Your donations will be managed and disbursed by the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade. The dollars you pledge will put food on the table of a breast cancer patient and her/his family. They will enable access to mammograms and medicine, fuel research, and save lives. Thanks to you in 2016 my team sponsor, Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center’s Capital Breast Care Center, received a grant of $200,000 to help provide breast cancer screening services to more than 1,600 women in the metropolitan D.C. area, many of whom are ineligible for public assistance and will require follow-up and evaluation. Knowing this, I can tell you, for me, it was worth every step. Together, this year, I hope we can do it again.
I’m walking with thousands of other 39ers. We’re banding together in solidarity and have one goal: to take breast cancer down. So many sisters and brothers, mothers and fathers, and friends have been lost. We see a world without breast cancer for our sons and daughters, our nieces and nephews. AVON 39 is a force of change that can’t be stopped. By supporting me with a donation or walking yourself, you’re part of it.
Know that not only do I thank you for your support, but all the men and women who fight this disease and live a quality life thank you.
I was diagnosed with breat cancer in 2014, and I beat if because of all the people who came before me. Now it is our time to take action and keep it up.
BE WELL! STAY SAFE, and thank you from the bottom of my heart for your help!
