Dear Friends and Family,
I am very excited to report that I have been accepted into the 2017 Santa Barbara AVON 39 – The Walk to End Breast Cancer Youth Crew. AVON 39 is the walk to end breast cancer. It isn’t easy, but that’s what make it worth it. Over 207 thousand people have walked and over 550 million dollars has been raised so far by people dedicated to ending breast cancer. The Youth Crew, since its inception, has contributed over 1 million dollars to the cause.
I am doing this walk not only because of how great the cause is, but also to show my respect and support for the millions of people that have and are currently fighting the terrible disease.
The mission of the AVON 39 Youth Crew is to allow young people to meaningfully participate in the event and demonstrate the power of youthful passion and conviction to:
- personally empower each team member
- provide an outlet for young people to contribute on a personal level in response to a disease that has directly affected them
- enrich the experience for all AVON 39 participants
- add real value for the staff and crew
- raise awareness about the full range of people effected by breast cancer
Last year the Youth Crew played a huge role in the event, getting everyone involved excited and putting a smile on their faces. I think the team had a big impact. As one cancer survivor said, “the reason I walk is so that young people like you will never have to face the challenges that I have faced.”
As a requirement of my participation, I need to raise quite a bit of money. My goal this year is to raise $1800, which is as much as a walker has to raise.
I am hoping that you would be willing to contribute in support of my involvement. All contributions are completely tax deductible. I will make sure that all the contributions get to the right place. Click on “Donate Now”, and join me in the fight against breast cancer.
Thank you so much for helping me to reach my goal.
Sincerely,
Ben Moody
