Mexican wedding cakes and French onion soup.
Being able to hear about what the beneficiaries are doing with the money that we help fundraise.
The money is always being donated to our beneficiaries, not just during event season.
New York, Washington DC
All of our beneficiaries are local to the market so you can directly help people in your area.
Fitness class fundraisers! They are so simple to set up and it’s a great way to fundraise and train at the same time.
“Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end.”
Houston, San Francisco
How the funds are distributed. Funds raised in each of our Walks could directly impact family and friends of our participants.
Pink ribbon tutus! I met a Boston 39er who raised over $500 by adding pink ribbons to the tutu she wore on event. Each pink ribbon represented a donation and a different person she was walking for.
Set high goals, strive to reach them. Remember the path chosen by God to get you there.
Washington DC, New York
Joining a team and learning that EVERYONE on the team is responsible for raising the $1800.
I suggested to a Walker who has a dog walking business to organize a dog walk for her campaign and charge an entrance fee. She thanked me over and over for coming up with the "best idea ever."
Credit history and credit score are vital aspects of your financial health - do not mess them up.

That it matters.
What I do today is to benefit tomorrow.
Always ask. If you don't ask, you don't give them the opportunity to say yes.
Houston, San Francisco
The close bonds you build with other Walkers and Crew members; it really is a family.
I think about all the people I know that have been touched by breast cancer and how my work can help bring an end to it!
Baking. The smell of cookies in the oven calms me right down.
New York, Washington DC
The beneficiaries are from local areas!
I sold greasy food in front of the frats from 12-2am for pediatric cancer! We raised tons of money and had lots of fun!
Strive to be the person your dog thinks you are :)

The Chicago Cubs. AKA World Series Champs. Talk about never giving up, trying and trying again, working as a team, and inspiring a community. Just like AVON 39ers and everyone involved!
Anytime I can surround myself with mission motivated individuals, looking to help and inspire others, I consider myself very lucky. This work is exactly that.
AVON 39 allocates funds to provide support in several areas. From access to care programs to research initiatives - AVON 39 works to help those battling now and prevent others from having to battle breast cancer in the future.

My mother.
Thoughts of my dreams and my family.
Never lose sight of your life goals.

Learning how to garden and grow my own herbs and vegetables!
Meeting a diverse group of people and personalities. Everyone has a wonderful story to tell.
My mother. She has overcome so many obstacles in life, but meets each day with a positive attitude and gives so much of herself to others.
Chicago, San Francisco
I love that it is my job to inspire people who are helping make a real difference. And that what they are doing inspires others. It's contagious!
The instant bond that occurs on the Walk. One moment you may be walking next to a complete stranger and the next moment you are laughing and crying together. The warmth is a beautiful thing.
I always love wine or dessert parties where it's a big tasting fest with friends. Yard sales are also great. When they know the money is being donated, people often give more.
Boston, New York
The stories we hear everyday and how the Walk becomes a strong support system in everyone’s lives.
A block party with a “Give Breast Cancer the Boot” cowboy boot and people donated money into it. She made $500!
When you realize needing nothing attracts everything.
New York, Washington D.C.
Getting to know each Walker on a personal level. Everyone has a story - you just have to ask!
My mom. Five years cancer-free and counting!
"Go into the world and do well. But more importantly, go into the world and do good."
Washington DC, New York
We donate the funds raised right away rather than holding on to them.
One of my walkers does a Oktoberbreast every year. She sets up tents in her back yard and serves food and beer.
Be thankful of where you are in life. Even when you feel like you're going nowhere. "Nowhere" with a space is now here. You are where you are for a reason.
Chicago, Santa Barbara
At the 2016 Santa Barbara Walk, I met up with one of my Walkers from years past, and seeing her so full of energy and empowered, and so ready to take on any challenge that she could, was amazing!
My mom. Her treatment journey was difficult on many levels, but she came through it spunkier than ever, and now she lives every day to it's fullest!
Not everyone walks all 39 miles (shhh!), and that's just fine.
Boston, New York
We immediately put the donations to use and don't hold on to them until after the events.
One of our Walkers sold hair ties with charms on them because "we should all keep our pony tails".
If you want to know what a man’s like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals.
